Beltone’s Sustainability Department Says Hi!
We are delighted to introduce Beltone Sustainability Department’s Newsletter. Our main objective is to raise awareness among all our employees about the importance of sustainability.

Milestones
2023
- Sustainability Policy and Strategy
Beltone issued its Sustainability Policy and Strategy.
- Partnership with Ertekaa
Beltone partnered with Ertekaa waste management company to collect our waste and receive monthly report on recycled materials. We proudly reached a milestone in December 2023 that the recycling rate was over 70% of our waste.
- Carbon Footprint Report 2023
We believe that we have an important role to play in addressing the challenge of climate change. Consequently, we have taken measures to measure our greenhouse gases (GHGs) and mitigate our contribution to climate change and to be a green company. To achieve this, we have developed a Carbon Footprint Report for the first two quarters of 2023 and the full report will be published in the first quarter in 2024. This is a part of our efforts to become a green company.
- Go Green – Bekia Initiative
In line with our theme “New Year Green Start”, Beltone has partnered with Bekia waste management company to collect and recycle our wastepaper.
- Train To Sustain Initiative
In line with our dedication to diversity and inclusion, Beltone has collaborated with the Wayana Foundation to train and employ nine individuals with Down syndrome. As valued members of our team, they receive the same rights and privileges as all Beltone employees, marking a significant milestone as the first Egyptian company to undertake such an initiative.
- Conference of Parties (COP28)
Beltone’s Sustainability Department has attended COP28 in Dubai and it was a remarkable experience. Throughout the event, we actively participated in captivating panels, side events, and negotiations. Our involvement provided valuable insights into a multitude of initiatives both in Egypt and on a global scale, enhancing our understanding of the challenges posed by climate change. - Establishment of the Health and Safety Committee
We have established our health and safety committee to monitor and report on our health and safety performance and continuously seek to improve it.
- Signatory with UN Women – The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)
We partnered with UN Women to conduct a comprehensive assessment of our gender equality performance across seven principles: leadership commitment; equal opportunity; health; safety; training; supply chain; community engagement and transparency.
Inspirational Business Meetings
Leasing and Factoring Support
We firmly believe that sustainability is a collective effort. Therefore, we have initiated meetings with each line of business to help us enhance sustainability across various aspects of our operations, covering ESG considerations.
Our meeting with the Leasing and Factoring Company (BLFC) has proven highly fruitful in advancing our sustainability goals. BLFC is fully supportive and will contribute in the following ways:
- BLFC will provide valuable insights, including client categorizations such as the percentage of female clients.
- BLFC will incorporate a question in the KYC application, asking clients if they have a sustainability/ESG policy.
- BLFC’s sales team will prioritize attracting environmentally conscious clients, expanding our portfolio of sustainability-minded partners.
Latest News
Cash for Microfinance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Beltone Holding has signed an agreement with the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, a program that aims to empower youth employment through private sector support, to launch the “Underprivileged Entrepreneurs Reach Project” for a total of EGP60 million.
The agreement aims to provide financing to entrepreneurs, with a special focus on women and youth.

Do You Know That.....
- ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance. It is a method to evaluate the sustainability of a company in addition to the economic pillar.
- Nowadays, more and more investors are incorporating ESG elements into their investment decision making process, making ESG increasingly important from the perspective of securing capital, both debt and equity.
- It’s surprising that just one tree can produce around 12,000 sheets of paper. This highlights a problem because it means we’re using a lot more trees than we might realize. Therefore, to align with our theme of “New Year Green Start”’ we encourage all Beltone employees to be mindful of our paper use and consider more sustainable options.
Go Green Bekia Initiative
Beltone is strategically focusing on three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs):
- Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
- Goal 13 – Climate Action
- Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
In pursuit of our unwavering dedication to the UN SDGs, Beltone has formed a partnership with Bekia waste management company in 2023 to responsibly handle our wastepaper. This collaboration serves a dual purpose: promoting sustainable practices within our organization and making a meaningful impact on society. As we venture into 2024, we continue our collaboration with Bekia. Through this ongoing partnership, we not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also generate proceeds that will be donated to esteemed charitable organizations in the name of all Beltone employees.
Be a Sustainability Champion! Are You Ready For the Competition!
1. Collect and place wastepaper in designated boxes located in each company. These boxes will be designed with the three UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that Beltone focuses on, showcasing our commitment to sustainability.
2.In our upcoming February newsletter, we will announce the company that has excelled in collecting wastepaper during January. Additionally, we will share valuable tips on reducing waste.
